June 29, 2008

You may have noticed that the avatars (little pictures next to your comments) disappeared a while back.  Well I have made them return and this time it shows you as little monsters!  If you have selected your own avatar picture then it should continue to use that one on your next post.

Week 20 – Baby News

June 28, 2008

Well here is the scan photo.  The baby (we did not find out whether it is a boy or a girl) was very busy putting its foot right above its head and stretching its arms out as if it were sunbathing.  In fact it did not keep still during either of the two scans which I had yesterday!  In the scan photo it is only bending one leg.  It is growing well and you can clearly see its nose, mouth and chin in the picture.

Here you go…

Little Miss Bow & Little Miss Friendly by Naomi Stockton

June 27, 2008

Little Miss Bow and Little Miss Friendly

Little Miss Bow went to knock on her friends door ” Knock knock ” Little Miss friendly answered the door “Do you want to go on the park?” “Ok” said Little Miss Friendly they were walking through the lane and they were chatting, then suddenly they got to the park. “Yay” they both shouted.

“Shall we go on to the swings?” said Little Miss Friendly “ok” said Little Miss Bow so they went onto the swings. They hoped on the swings they shouted “weeeeeeeeee” they were having lots of fun but then SUDDENLY…

Little Miss Bows bow came off and she didn’t notice so she was still going high on her swing and there laid her bow on the cut fresh green grass. Her Friend Gasped ” Oh “Said Her Friend “what what” said Little Miss Bow “look there’s one of your bows ” OH NO” shouted Little Miss Bow then she scraped her feet and stopped her self and she kneeled down, looked at her bow, and cried she was very sad!

Her friend said to her lets take you to your house and then ill get you some tea “o…o….ok” so Little Miss Friendly took her home and made her some pasta bake then she had a good idea “wait here ill go and get something” “ok” said little Miss Bow so she went out the door and ran as quickly as she could to the shop saw the last bow and said “can I have that last pink bow please” “ok” said the shopkeeper. So then she went and brought it for her friend so then she walked home. When she got home Little Miss Bow was in her room so Little Miss Friendly wrapped up her present and shouted her down. She came down the stairs and then she opened the present and went all happy again what a day she shouted!

Watcombe Primary School Review by Lauren Watton

June 26, 2008

I have not been in Watcombe School very long but I have a lot of memories like:

  • My first day;
  • Saddest event;
  • Favourite event;
  • Brick laying;
  • Cricket.

Read on to hear about my memories…

My first day

I can rember my first day very well! I woke up with butterflies in my tummy and thought it would be like very other school I have been to. I walked through the school and just wanted to go back home. But I couldn’t and it’s a good job I didn’t. When I arrived I was shown to every girl in the class but usually I would be pushed into a gang and every one would be in a group fighting against each other, but here it wasn’t like that, and I felt really welcome.

Saddest Event

My saddest event is when Katie left. I may not have known her very well like all the other girls in my class, but she welcomed me and became my friend so I classed her as a good friend to. The day she left every one was crying I think I had a couple of tears to. At the end of the day we all said good bye and Mrs. Squire took a picture of all the girls in year 6. I gave her a hug goodbye. We all miss her very much.

Favourite Event

My fave event is bush craft. A man called Sam came to our school for bush craft. He showed us how to tie knots to build shelters. My team built a shelter and decorated it with lees and ivy. Then Sam lit a fire and showed us how to make one our own. When out fire was ready we heated water above it to make hot chocolate. Sam gave us all 2 marsh mallows each, silly Nadine dropped her marsh mallow in the fire so she got another one. Sam then taught us how to eat stinging nettles. You had to squash the stinging nettles down then fold it up and eat it. It tastes like cucumber. I and Nadine were like the only ones who liked it.

Brick Laying

A builder came into out school to do bricklaying. He showed us all of the tools builders use and then showed us what builders wear on building sites. We then had to put it on! He then showed us how to build a wall. Me And Ellie started on out wall. We then straightened our wall with this tool with a bubble in the middle and it goes to the middle when it is straight. At the end the man chose the champion wall, it was mine and Ellies. Then we had to knock them down again. I don’t see the point in making a wall then knocking it back down. But it was a lot of fun and very messy.

Cricket

Every Thursday Mr. Fairbairn a cricket player teaches us or something new about cricket. I never really like cricket, and I was never really good at it. But now I have been with Mr. Fairbairn I am more confident with it. I even got someone out by balling the ball. I used to dread it when he comes in but know I find it fun and I know really like cricket.

From the Newsround Website… What do you think?

June 26, 2008

Have you ever tried go-karting? If so, you’ll know that you usually need quite a bit of pocket money – or some pretty generous parents – to afford it.

But now 16 tracks around the country are offering kids karting for £5 – they want to encourage as many children as possible to try the sport out.

The aim of Let’s Go Karting is to make the sport available to more children.

As well as learning how to drive a kart, you can also learn other skills like how to fix car engines.
